My name is Hania (aka Makeup by Hania) and I have been working as a Makeup Artist in the Wedding Industry for over 9 years. I trained at the Academy of Makeup Scotland in 2015, completing the Introduction to Makeup Artistry Course. I knew from the start that I wanted to do weddings so I went straight into it and have loved every minute of it.
I created the Directory at the start of 2023, when I was receiving a large number of enquiries from Brides for venues all over Scotland. I soon realised that Brides who aren’t from the local area don’t know who covers that area or if artists travel or not. I started looking into other Wedding Directories that were available and noticed there wasn’t anything specifically for Hair/Makeup and Beauty in Scotland.
When I started to create this Directory, my vision was for a site that was easy to navigate but most of all I wanted it to look sleek and modern (not a kilt in sight 😉 joking as obvs it’s a Scottish Wedding site but you know what I mean). Wedding Hair and Makeup is so visual so I wanted to make sure the whole Directory looks good and appealing to Brides when they are searching for Hair and Makeup for their Scottish Weddings. I didn’t want a cluttered site with venues, car hire etc.
I also wanted to create a community for other Hair and Makeup Artists as I know how lonely this job can be. Members are part of a fab community where we can all chat, share ideas, etc. Members of the Directory now take part in regular meet ups, Portfolio Days, Masterclasses, Beauty Events and so much more. The community that has grown from the Directory is amazing, it’s like a family. The reaction to the Directory has been amazing already, with new Artists and Salons signing up frequently, I am so excited for the future of this and have so many exciting things coming so watch this space!
