Your wedding day morning can set the tone for the rest of the day, which is why it’s so important to have a smooth and stress-free start. Here are some tips to help you have a relaxing and enjoyable wedding morning:
- Get a good night’s sleep: It’s important to get enough rest the night before your wedding day. Try to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep so you’ll be refreshed and ready for the day ahead.
- Wake up early: Give yourself plenty of time to get ready without feeling rushed. Wake up early enough to allow yourself at least a few hours to get ready, have breakfast, and relax before the ceremony.
- Eat a healthy breakfast: Wedding days can be long and busy, so it’s important to start the day with a good breakfast. Choose something healthy and filling, like porridge, toast, eggs, or fruit, to keep you energized throughout the day.
- Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated and avoid feeling tired or sluggish (and make sure to go to the toilet before you put your dress on).
- Create a timeline: Plan out your morning in advance so you know what you need to do and when. This will help you stay on track and avoid feeling overwhelmed.
- Get ready in a calm environment: Choose a getting-ready location that is calm and relaxing, whether it’s a hotel room or a friend’s house. Avoid chaotic or stressful environments that could add unnecessary stress to your day.
- Surround yourself with positive people: Choose a few close friends or family members to help you get ready, and make sure they are positive and supportive. Avoid anyone who might add stress or negativity to your day.
- Member Diane Boa recommends to ensure you delegate, make sure Staff at your venue and Bridesmaids know the Brides wishes and are able to carry them out without asking too many questions on the wedding morning. This is a time for the Bride to relax, gather her thoughts and enjoy being pampered by her hair and makeup artist.
- Gaynor from Elegant Bridal Hairstyling says to steam dresses the night before and not the morning of your wedding (unless it’s a professional service) too often we have seen Brides steaming their dress AFTER having hair and makeup done. Gaynor also recommends to cut tags off dresses, shoes etc.
- Another great tip from Gaynor is to make sure it’s a big enough space to get ready in. If there’s not, it’s uncomfortable for everyone and the room can get too hot. Use a fan to keep the room cool. And set out your underwear with your dress (they always go missing 😉
- Makeup by Colleen says have everything you and your party need laid out the night before, to avoid constant interruptions when you are having your makeup done.
- Meigan Alessandra also highly recommends to do all the steaming the night before so it doesn’t affect your hair and makeup!
- Allow plenty of time to get into your dress and consider having a professional help dress you, if your budget allows. Some dresses can take quite a bit of effort getting into and often have lots of fiddly buttons. This can be stressful when you are rushing and trying to get into the dress, especially after you have had your hair and makeup done, and it can become too warm. There are many dressing services out there, check out Dressed by Christine.
- Take time to relax with your bridal party, or close friends and family and enjoy a glass of fizz (but don’t go overboard). Consider hiring a content creator to take lots of behind the scenes images that you often forget to take or don’t have the time to. Social Brides Club offer this service and travel throughout Scotland and beyond.
By following these tips, you can help ensure that your wedding day morning is smooth, stress-free, and enjoyable. Mosst of all, make sure you take some time to yourself, the morning goes by so fast so make sure you enjoy it and breathe!
